Climate Catastrophe Hostess

This installation explores what it means to “welcome” people into our home when the brute force of climate catastrophe lurks in our environment.  How will we adjust to the upheaval of traditional rituals of home and hospitality when we must always be ready to flee, forage and fend off unfenced domesticated species that we once consumed in abundance for celebrations? The dinner party was once a powerful social ritual, with oppressive patriarchal roles and conventions for host and hostess. Now it is rendered arid and meaningless by climate catastrophe’s impact on women, housing, community, and food security.
