Celebrating My Retirement (series)
This installation has five elements:
‘My Retirement Tea Party’, a table setting celebrating a woman’s retirement
a panel called "A Women's Work is Never Done"
a string shopping bag soft sculpture called "Carrying Mental Load"
hot water bottle cover soft sculpture called "Emotional Labour For the Patriarchy"
a soundscape called "Retirement Voices"
It was designed for a small room, to create a domestic context for visitors to consider the complex and conflicting experiences of women in a patriarchy thinking about their own retirement.
